The vessel’s existing monitoring and alarm system will be replaced by Palladium’s new-generation SiMON technology. The retrofit will be completed in the second quarter of 2007 in Barcelona.
The installation will include more than 500 sensor points, monitoring the vessel’s engines, bilges, tanks and auxiliary machinery systems. The refit will also involve the design and implementation of a new SiMON generator/switchboard control module for automatic synchronization and load management for the three onboard generators. The installation will include master monitoring stations in the engine room and master control room, as well as five remote alarm panels with small high-resolution LCD text displays in the wheelhouse, crew areas and engineers’ cabin.
“The SiMON system will provide increased situational awareness for the captain and engineers in monitoring the status of all onboard critical systems and subsystems,” said Michael Blake, president of Palladium Technologies. “We are especially proud to be the chosen supplier for this impressive yacht with her long heritage.”
The vessel was originally designed by Cox & Stevens and launched in 1930 as M/Y Reveler. She was briefly impressed into service during World War II as USS Beaumont (PG60). After a succession of owners and refits, she was eventually bought in 1988 by the Getty family and re-emerged from a major overhaul in her present incarnation as M/Y Talitha G. With her distinct classic lines, with twin masts and smokestacks, M/Y Talitha G is a familiar sight in the world’s most popular cruising waters.
